Voxel engine · Phase 0
The world is generated.
The world then lives.
NEXORA is a voxel sandbox engine written in Rust with
zero external dependencies and unsafe_code = "forbid".
The engine foundation is implemented, tested and runnable.
What it actually does
This is the real output of nexora-headless, not a mock-up. It
exits non-zero if any of it fails.
NEXORA headless vertical slice
------------------------------
world id 0x368cfbaaa04ab32c
chunks generated 25
non-air blocks 50818052
voxel storage 722304 bytes
save size 116904 bytes
region store 9 regions, 119482 bytes; one edit rewrote 1 for 18718 bytes
physics bodies 9 (9 settled)
physics substeps 600 (270 contacts)
character drop 1010 cm
streaming ticks 29 (95 generated, 120 evicted, 25 restored)
chunks retained 15 (peak, edits that cannot be regenerated)
retention spill 25 columns to 12 region files, 25 read back
probes verified 76
result OK
Fifty million blocks held in 722 KB. An observer walks away from the edited region and back, so those 76 verified probes are also proof that streaming evicted 120 columns without losing an edit.

Verify what you downloaded
Every release ships a SHA256SUMS covering all of its
archives, so you can check a download without trusting this page.
shasum -a 256 -c SHA256SUMS # macOS, Linux

What is in the archive
nexora-headless- The vertical slice. Builds a world from a seed, generates chunks across a worker pool, edits voxels, drops a character and simulates it until it settles, streams an observer away and back, advances the clock, saves, shuts down, reopens and verifies every probe.
nexora-benchmark- The measurement harness behind the published baseline. Run it on your own machine — the numbers in the repository are from one box and say so.
nexora-texture-forge- The procedural material generator. Reads the material definitions bundled in the archive and writes PBR maps that are reproducible from their own record.
Plus the content the forge reads, and both licences. Every binary was run on its own platform by the workflow that built it, before it was packaged.
Build it from source
Rust 1.85 or newer, and nothing else — the engine crates pull in no external dependencies at all.

Open source, and specific about it
The measurements
Every performance claim, with its controls, its spread, and the ones that were later corrected.
The debt register
What is known to be wrong or unfinished, why it was accepted, and what would trigger fixing it.
The decisions
Architecture decision records: context, options considered, and the consequence that was accepted.
